Recycling – Posey County Solid Waste District

The Posey County Solid Waste District operates 5 recycling centers within Posey County, the Mt. Vernon curbside program, and processes recyclables to ship worldwide. Centers are located in Mt. Vernon, Cynthiana, Poseyville, New Harmony, and Marrs Township. All materials are brought to Mt. Vernon for processing and shipping. Large appliances and electronics are accepted at the Mt. Vernon site only. Business recycling is available also.

Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm until 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

Cynthiana Recycling Center

North Mill Street

Open Wednesdays from 10am until 2pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon. World’s tallest recycling center.

Marrs Recycling Center

Ford Rd. north of Hwy. 62

Open on Thursdays from 12 noon until 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

New Harmony Recycling Center

East South Street

Open Wednesdays from 12 noon until 4pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

Poseyville Recycling Center

207 S. St. Francis Ave.

Open Tuesdays from 2pm until 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 12 noon.

Plastic: #1 (PETE) and #2 (HDPE) clear and colored bottles. #1 clear non-bottles (clam shells), #5 (PP) plastic, #2 (HDPE) non-bottles, grocery bags

Metal: Aluminum cans, tin cans, miscellaneous metal. Appliances to Mt. Vernon Center only.

Glass: Clear, brown, green and blue bottles

Textiles: USEABLE clothing, purses, linens, belts, paired shoes, stuffed toys.

Inkjet and toner cartridges

ELECTRONICS: Mt. Vernon Center only.

FEE charged for TVs and computer monitors.

$25.00 over 27″

$50.00 for large projection type Tv’s

$10.00 for computer monitors

Pay at office first to receive receipt for recycling between the hours of 8:00 am thru 4:00 pm (Monday – Friday)
